Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard Trial in Virginia court

In his defamation case against his ex-wife Amber Heard, actor Johnny Depp took the stand in a Fairfax, Virginia court on Tuesday.

The Oscar-nominated actor went into great depth regarding Heard's claims of domestic abuse, his past with substance misuse, and their relationship

Depp is suing for more than $50 million, claiming that her allegations of domestic abuse have hurt his career and image.

Amber Heard has filed a countersuit against Depp, claiming $100 million in damages and alleging that Depp's legal team unjustly accused her of inventing allegations against him.

Depp allegedly damaged Heard's face after tossing a phone at her at their Los Angeles home, according to Heard. Depp rejected the accusation and was cleared of any wrongdoing.

"Never did I personally reach the point of hitting Ms. Heard in any manner, nor have I ever struck any woman in my life," Depp stated during his evidence.

Depp and Amber met on the set of "The Rum Diary" in 2009, married in 2015, and then had a difficult breakup for months, with both sides accusing the other of terrible behaviour.

Depp spoke about the beginning of his relationship with Heard, saying "from what I recall, she was too good to be true."
