San Antonio Spurs held on for a 123-120 win over the Houston Rockets

The San Antonio Spurs beat the Houston Rockets 123-120 on Monday night to move closer to the Western Conference's last play-in spot.

The Spurs won their fourth straight game, pulling within a half-game of the Los Angeles Lakers for 10th place in the Western Conference

“We hung in there and got it done so I’m proud of the guys," coach Gregg Popovich said.

The Spurs dominated inside, outscoring Houston 72-30. Keldon Johnson scored 21 points and Jakob Poeltl added 17 points and 13 rebounds.

In a win against Houston on Jan. 25, San Antonio set a season best with 82 points in the paint.

The Rockets' two-game winning run was interrupted when rookie Jalen Green scored 30 points and Kevin Porter Jr. added 26.

“I see growth in this group it seems like every day," coach Stephen Silas said. “Even when we lose I feel like there ae moments where we grow."
