Noah Thompson's closest buddy persuaded him to compete for "American Idol," and now the 19-year-old has won the competition.
Thompson remarked in a clip from his audition that has over 2 million views on YouTube, "It's quite amazing to know that somebody believes in you more than you believe in yourself."
Thompson, a construction worker and father from Louisa, sang "Giving You Up" at his audition and won judges hearts.
Noah received the most real-time votes during the finals, beating out competitors HunterGirl and Leah Marlene
For the finale,Noah Thompson sang three songs: "I'm on Fire" for the Bruce Springsteen round, "One Day Tonight," his own song, and Rihanna's "Stay," his favourite song of the season.
Hunter Wolkonowski, better known by her stage as Huntergirl, came in second place on the show.
